01 Sep We want to motivate you to donate to nonprofits and charities
Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, September 1st, 2020. To face the ravages of the social crisis in Mexico, from September 1st to 30th, Comunalia is participating in the #YoDonoPorqueMX campaign to share and replicate donation stories that motivate more people to donate to non-profit and charitable organizations in Mexico.
This is an initiative that makes actions of generosity visible and helps us discover what really motivates people to donate in Mexico through small stories that donors and volunteers share in short videos or photos on social networks accompanied by the hashtag #YoDonoPorqueMX.
The campaign takes place within the framework of Mexico’s national month to highlight the value of generosity as part of the Mexican identity, and in the midst of the effects of a pandemic that has hit an economy which the non-profit sector already suffers through in Mexico.
According to PULSOosc, a collaborative effort of donor organizations and foundations to learn about the reality of what the civil society sector in Mexico is going through in the face of the Covid-19 contingency, 95% of non-profits are at a medium and high level of vulnerability, while in the area of financial sustainability, 85% report a reduction in their income.
The impact of the situation faced by the sector will be reflected in whether non-profit organizations can continue to offer their services to populations and sectors that were already vulnerable before the crisis, and consequently, it will have a pronounced effect on the depth and breadth of the social inequalities in the country.
This is why the #YoDonoPorqueMX campaign, in the face of this new reality, is encouraging organizations, through donors and volunteers, to continue promoting people’s participation in their causes and the mobilization of resources to sustain their work.
Can I participate in #YoDonoPorqueMX?
We can all participate. Here are the steps to take so that you can also inspire with your donation story.
1.- Share your donation story.
This is a personal story about a time in your life when you made a donation. The stories can refer to any type of donation, whether in-kind, in cash or when you have donated your time through volunteer work.
2.- You can tell your story in a video or photograph accompanied by a short text.
If it is a video, place your cell phone in an upright position, take care to avoid external noise so that your message is heard clearly, and voilá, you can record a short video.
3.- A simple way to start is by saying your name and state of residence.
Follow this by answering the questions: What inspired you to make the donation? Why did you choose that cause or organization? and how did you feel after donating?
4.- When your story is ready, share it on your social networks.
Use the hashtag #YoDonoPorqueMx. If you mention an organization where you made your donation, tag it and tag @Comunalia so that we know and apply your story.
5.- Invite or nominate your friends to also share their story.
We are already part of the positive stories’ movement that motivates more people to become donors and volunteers. Today, organizations and social causes need it more than ever.
