ctive Communities Fund
In response to the crisis caused by COVID-19, Comunalia launched a flexible and collaborative initiative in 2020: the Active Communities Fund.
The initiative brought together national and international donors—the Inter-American Foundation, the Mott Foundation, and the Coca-Cola Foundation—along with 16 Mexican community foundations, to support two phases of local development projects between 2020 and 2022.
This joint investment not only expanded the scope of the projects but also strengthened community networks and contributed to the revitalization of economic and social life in these regions.
Comunalia designed and coordinated the fund, engaging donors, defining guidelines in collaboration with the foundations, and supporting the process with technical advice, peer-to-peer training opportunities, and a strategy for monitoring, evaluation, and systematization. This model demonstrates the Alliance’s ability to effectively channel national and international resources toward local solutions, with transparency, accountability, and a long-term vision.
The Active Communities Fund is an example of what Comunalia can achieve in partnership with new allies.
