Giving Circles
At Comunalia, we believe that promoting community philanthropy is key to increasing participation and engaging citizens.
That is why, since 2022 and in partnership with Philanthropy Together, we have been promoting the creation of Giving Circles, a methodology that allows groups of people to come together, learn about causes close to their community, and decide collectively which projects to support with their donations.
Thanks to this initiative, nine community foundations have launched their “Circles of Giving” programs, mobilizing financial, in-kind, and relational resources to support educational, environmental, and social projects, strengthening ties with local donors, and forging new partnerships.
Comunalia continues to promote this model. In 2024, we closely supported four foundations as they established their programs: we provided financial resources, training, and technical advice; facilitated peer learning; and launched calls for matching grants to encourage fundraising. This support allows each foundation to adapt the methodology to its specific context and institutional strategy.
Today, Círculos de Dar is a dynamic tool within foundations, with the potential to grow, be replicated, and continue building a culture of collective giving in Mexico.
