Promoting the 2030 Agenda at the Local Level: The Case of Fundación Merced Querétaro
June 29, 2023The Yucatecan Business Foundation AC (FEYAC), established in 2009 by business leaders from the State of Yucatán, Mexico, has been a key player in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) throughout the Yucatán Peninsula, as well as in the State of Yucatán and its municipalities.
As a community foundation that works on various issues and brings together different local stakeholders, it needed a clear direction for its work. Sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda have served as its guiding compass. FEYAC has incorporated the SDGs into all its programs and has taken a leadership role in promoting them among business leaders and civil society organizations, as well as in coordinating efforts with governments and working collaboratively on the 2030 Agenda.
This case study was developed by the research team at the Center for Philanthropy and Social Investment at Adolfo Ibáñez University (CEFIS UAI), led by Rodrigo Villar with the support of Ximena Veas, in 2023. It is part of the project “Localizing the SDGs to Promote Sustainable Communities in Latin America,” carried out with the support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
