Civil society organizations form a committee to boost the sector's impact.
This past Tuesday, the Competency Management Committee for the Social Transformation Sector of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) was established through the Trust for Standardized Occupational Competency Systems and Occupational Competency Certification (Conocer), with Agustín Landa serving as chair, at the facilities of the Center for Innovation and Social Impact, yCo.
The Committee, whose goal is to certify civil society organizations to enhance competitiveness, is composed of: Consejo Cívico, yCo Center for Innovation and Social Impact, Red Sumarse, Comunalia, Cómo Vamos Nuevo León, Jesús M. Montemayor AC, CEMEX’s Social Responsibility and Inclusive Business Division, Confío AC, UDEM, Tec de Monterrey, U-ERRE, and Vía Educación AC.
“One of our primary goals is to help train leaders who will professionally drive social transformation in Nuevo León and the rest of Mexico,” said Agustín Landa.
Mauricio Canseco, a member of the Committee and director of yCo, explained that the Committee will be divided into four subsectors: the public subsector, the private subsector, the foundations subsector, and the civil society organizations subsector.
According to the Conocer website, “the Competency-Based Management Committee (CGC) is a group of individuals, companies, or organizations representing a productive, social, or government sector that, due to their number of employees, their participation in the labor market, and/or their nationally recognized standing in the sector—as validated by CONOCER—serves as the body responsible for promoting the competency-based management model within the organizations of the sector they represent.”
