One of the greatest assets of community foundations is their in-depth knowledge of the local area and their ability to engage in direct dialogue with the community. That is why, since 2021, Comunalia has been promoting the Signos Vitales methodology—created by Community Foundations of Canada—as a tool that allows each community to share and highlight its strengths, needs, and aspirations in its own words.

To date, the Community Foundations have conducted nine community assessments and published the corresponding Vital Reports in various regions of the country, and these have been a turning point in their work: from reorienting their institutional strategy to strengthening health, education, and transportation programs, and even establishing community committees to address the issues identified.

Comunalia supports community foundations at every stage: it provides financial resources, offers technical advice and personalized feedback, shares methodologies through peer-learning opportunities, and supports the dissemination of results.
