April 4, 2021
We're launching a new section: Learn about our initiatives!
April 26, 2021Monterrey, Nuevo León, April 21, 2021. Ensuring the well-being and full development of children in our communities has been one of the priorities addressed by the initiatives of Comunalia’s partner foundations throughout Mexico.
Through their programs and projects, the Alliance of Community Foundations of Mexico addresses the challenges faced by children while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Within their communities, community foundations are working to promote holistic health, ensure quality education, and eradicate child poverty.
Here's some information about the projects:
Fundación Comunidad’s Educational Support Program:
With the goal of helping children and youth continue their education—thereby improving their quality of life, as well as that of their families and communities—Fundación Comunidad in Morelos promotes the Education Fund to support them throughout their school years as they transition from elementary to middle school, focusing on their academic, personal, family, and vocational development. This initiative was launched in 2014 with the goal of fostering leadership skills in children and, through this, making a positive impact on their communities. The program operates in collaboration with the civil society organizations La Jugarreta Espacios de Participación, in Tepoztlán, and the Caminando Unidos Alternative Education Project, in Cuernavaca.
The ADN Model, from the Chihuahua Business Foundation (FECHAC):
The Expanding Children’s Development (ADN) Model is an initiative with more than 10 years of experience that serves children and adolescents living in vulnerable situations by helping them develop skills and abilities, with a focus on the social prevention of violence and crime in the municipalities of Chihuahua, Creel, and Hidalgo del Parral, in the state of Chihuahua. The initiative is implemented in elementary schools located in areas with high rates of poverty and social disintegration, providing targeted, high-quality support to enrolled students through activities that build their skills. The model is also being replicated in the state of Sonora through the Sonoran Business Foundation (FESAC) and in Yucatán through the work of the Yucatecan Business Foundation (FEYAC), both of which are partners of Comunalia.
Art as a Strategy for Resilience in Childhood by the Oaxaca Community Foundation:
The Oaxaca Community Foundation promotes the Community Strengthening Program with the participation of children from the community of San José el Paraíso, on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, following the 2017 earthquake. In this way, it promotes resilience in children through artistic activities, strengthening their self-esteem, autonomy, cooperation, creativity, and ability to express their emotions.
Social funds supporting children, from the Puebla Community Foundation:
The Puebla Community Foundation promotes various funds in partnership with civil society organizations, all of which aim to support children in that state. Its partnership with the Beck Foundation promotes comprehensive community development in the communities of San Andrés Azumiatla, Tepapayeca, and Santiago Huejotal, with the aim of fostering individual, family, and community development through therapies, counseling, workshops, and scholarships for outstanding students, among its main components.
Meanwhile, its collaboration with the Germán Martínez Hidalgo Foundation (FGMH) promotes and carries out scientific activities aimed at strengthening astronomy and science among children and young people in that state.
In Mexico, the work of Comunalia’s partner community foundations places children at the center of public attention to ensure the sustainable development of their communities and reduce inequalities through partnerships and collaboration with various sectors.
