The path we've traveled and the one still ahead

Para reconocer los aprendizajes en común, retos y oportunidades, las fundaciones comunitarias de la Alianza de Fundaciones Comunitarias de México, organizaciones de la sociedad civil y grupos de base participaremos en encuentros virtuales del 8 al 12 de noviembre en el marco de la conmemoración de los 10 años de Comunalia.
This week, we will hold discussions to reflect on and acknowledge experiences, challenges, and dreams for the future. In addition, there will be webinars on organizational strengthening and fundraising, as well as presentations of research on resource mobilization by grassroots organizations.
On Tuesday, November 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mexico City time, the panel discussion “Strengthening Capacity-Builders” will take place, featuring Lucía Hidalgo of Alternativas y Capacidades, David Pérez Rulfo of Corporativa de Fundaciones, Cristina Ruiz of CEMEFI, and Mauricio Canseco of yCo. Centro de Fortalecimiento will share their insights, reflections, and challenges regarding organizations that specialize in training and strengthening other CSOs. [To attend, register here]
Today, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mexico City time, Ma. Laura Muñoz of the Border Philanthropy Alliance will share basic tips for designing and implementing fundraising strategies in the webinar: Fundraising Strategies. [To attend, register here]
On Wednesday, November 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mexico City time, Jenny Hodgson, executive director of the Global Fund for Community Foundations, will lead the webinar: “The Role of Community Foundations in the #ShiftThePower Movement.” [To attend, register here]
#ShiftThePower is a movement that aims to shift the balance of power to ensure that local people have control over the resources they need to build the communities they want.
And on Friday, November 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mexico City time, Arrecife, an initiative of the Fondo de Acción Solidaria A.C., will present the results of the Study on Resource Mobilization by Grassroots Groups in Mexico. [To attend, register here]
Arrecife is a coalition of philanthropic organizations that seek to foster a culture of philanthropy in Mexico by increasing funding for grassroots organizations, as well as to catalyze development processes free from violence, with a focus on social, environmental, and economic justice, and to strengthen approaches to resilience.
Ten years after the founding of the Alliance of Community Foundations of Mexico, the community foundations in the network will also participate in virtual events this week to share their reflections, experiences, and contributions to the consolidation of the Mexican model.
